**Description**
**THE ROLE**
We're calling a clinical leader with a tech forward view of the world! The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Clinical Strategy and Operations, reporting to the Chief of Virtual Care and Digital Health, will be responsible for creating and maintaining the clinical and provider experience multi-year strategic and operational plans, strategic planning and innovation roadmaps, product roadmap, and stakeholder alignment for assigned specific special projects and services lines organization and all functions within. The AVP of Clinical Strategy and Operations will be responsible for delivering and driving the assigned Virtual Care and Digital Health service line and special project's clinical strategy and implementation across all care delivery and network partner and customer facing activities, as well as driving integration with the wider Providence system. The AVP of Clinical Strategy and Operations will be accountable to ensure integration, prioritization, and alignment across all strategic, enterprise-wide functions.
Key functions this role would oversee include:
+ Clinical Strategy and Operations: Provides high-level guidance to ensure high-quality care for assigned clinical service line and special projects; works with VCDH executive team to integrate clinical imperatives into enterprise-level strategy. Ensures robust financial and operational plan to design, pilot, launch and scale clinical service line and special projects as assigned. Leads product roadmap design and implementation.
+ Care Model Design: Serves as a centralized function to coordinate care design & innovation initiatives across the service line to Providence system and external customers to enable efficiency and scale; builds and communicates the business case for clinical vendors that can support Providence's care models and goals for clinical excellence and growth
+ Medical Affairs: Collaborates with clinicians across PSJH to interface with the medical community / stakeholders to communicate key updates (e.g., PHP patient outcomes / evidence, care delivery philosophy) and facilitate strategic external-facing activities and thought leadership; supports definition and dissemination of Providence's unique clinical value in existing and new markets
Key responsibilities for this role include:
+ Supporting executive leaders in establishing an adaptive strategic and operational plan to assigned service line/special projects, product roadmap and multi-year framework to establish the 'north star', anchor decision making, and drive results
+ Supporting all lines-of-business and functional areas and facilitating alignment and prioritization of strategic activity for the Clinical Outcomes & Care Design organization required to achieve goals
+ Managing Clinical Outcomes & Care Design's strategic planning and roadmap activity, multi-year strategic plan, Innovation, and caregiver direct reports.
+ Incorporating the provider experience, embedding the "voice of the provider", and integrating quality into enterprise strategy.
+ Driving strategic partnership with Providence St. Joseph Health System (PSJH) providers and clinicians to maintain open lines of communication, collaborate on joint-provider strategy and initiatives, and cross-beneficial innovation.
+ Working with care delivery functions to implement care models to improve health outcomes and manage healthcare costs

+ Works with the team to identify and resolve issues and problems affecting their area and provides them with counsel, guidance, and direction as appropriate to foster a culture of empowerment.
+ Attracts, develops, and retains talent to create high-performing teams.
+ Identifies key capital needs and manages annual operating budget as appropriate, working with functional leadership to allocate funds / resources accordingly.
+ Works as a team member with other core leaders and provides leadership as needed across the enterprise.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ **Clinical Strategy and Operations:**
+ Helps establish clinical strategy and operations goals and develops programs to improve patient and caregiver experience and clinical outcomes. Develops business case to support investment in growth of programs.
+ Supports alignment of clinical strategy to care delivery and executes on operational plan to deliver service line/special project to reality.
+ Serves as a thought partner to Chief of Virtual Care and Digital Health and the rest of the VCDH Leadership Team
+ **Care Model Design:**
+ Serves as a centralized function to coordinate care design & innovation initiatives across the Providence system to enable efficiency and scale
+ Builds and communicates the business case for clinical vendors that can support Providence's care models and goals for clinical excellence and growth
+ Oversees service line/special project design, product roadmap, program execution to improve patient and caregiver experience and clinical outcomes while managing healthcare quality and costs.
+ Supports identification of clinical need areas, designs interventions, supports delivery of care model modifications, and supervises collaboration with care delivery teams to implement / monitor impact of care model interventions
+ Communicates strategic imperatives to internal care teams (e.g., Care Management, Utilization Management, Provider Relations, Value-Based Care Strategy, Design & Enablement) to ensure alignment between enterprise strategy, clinical strategy, and delivery
+ Drives awareness with external stakeholders (e.g., providers, members) to promote awareness of care models / initiatives
+ **Medical Affairs:**
+ Collaborates with clinicians across PHP and PSJH to communicate key clinical / scientific updates (e.g., PHP patient outcomes / evidence, care delivery philosophy) to external partners / stakeholders (e.g., PHP members, PHP network, industry partners, regulatory bodies)
+ Ensures that VCDH's clinical philosophy / care delivery programs are in line with industry trends / best practices, and that medical policies are responsive to shifts in scientific / regulatory landscape.
+ Supports VCDH representation at conferences / industry events / continuous learning seminars to represent PHP, drive awareness of VCDHs clinical / strategic imperatives, and incorporate learnings into VCDHs care design and delivery
+ Defines and disseminates Providence's unique clinical value in existing and new markets
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Master's degree in healthcare business administration, public health; or equivalent educ/experience (preferred)
+ Advanced degree in clinical studies such as MSN, DNP, ARNP, PA, PharmD, MD or DO; or equivalent educ/experience (preferred)
+ 8 years of work experience in health care strategy, strategic planning, and clinical innovation, preferably in an integrated health system, health plan, hospital, or public health setting
+ 7 years of recent health system clinical leadership experience
+ Experience at a nonprofit health system (preferred)
+ 5 years of leadership or management experience consistent with the duties described
+ 5 years of clinical experience - specifically PharmD, MD/DO, RN or clinical psychologist/social worker
+ Possesses exceptional strategic, operational, financial & clinical acumen and ability to tie medical knowledge to programs that improve care delivery
+ Demonstrates the ability to lead and work within virtual / hybrid team settings, and confidently during times of significant change, transition, complexity, and ambiguity
+ Possesses the ability to establish and maintain relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders (e.g., Care Management teams, Network / provider teams, Finance), as well as external stakeholders (e.g., policy makers, medical community, academic journals) to support VCDH's clinical objectives
+ Demonstrates independence and ability to guide C-suite leaders in developing and aligning on a comprehensive clinical strategy to guide care delivery activities
+ Exhibits ability to support a variety of clinical & strategic initiatives simultaneously while maintaining the ability to advise Chief of Virtual Care and Digital Health in prioritizing clinical initiatives and supporting effective real-time decisions
+ Possesses a nuanced understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), principles of population health management, and a demonstrated ability to tie clinical imperatives to access to care / health equity considerations
+ Able to leverage principles of design thinking in strategy setting (i.e., possesses ability to empathize with needs and adopting a hands-on, human-centered approach to solving problems)
+ Possesses a strong strategic background, with direct experience in defining / delivering strategic initiatives
+ Understands the complexities of the healthcare industry, health plan dynamics / operations, and interconnectivity of each major industry player (e.g., health plans, hospitals, life sciences firms), with a particular expertise in provider experience and pain points
+ Has deep knowledge of the interlocks / key dependencies across each component of the healthcare value chain (e.g., providers, health plans) - and knowledge of how clinical care delivery is impacted across the healthcare ecosystem
+ Knowledgeable regarding core clinical functions, including but not limited to: Clinical Operations, Virtual Care, Care Transformation, Digital Health, Clinical Product Development, Care Management, Network Management, Clinical Quality, Value-Based Care, and Behavioral Health
+ Demonstrates ability to leverage mix of clinical and business acumen to support organizational objectives, especially in the context of a non-profit healthcare system
+ Possesses ability to lead development of clinical objectives / strategic imperatives, including a roadmap for implementation and key dependencies across functional areas
+ Demonstrates ability to manage numerous clinical & strategic initiatives concurrently, including driving cross-functional initiatives and ensuring buy-in from stakeholders across the organization
+ Has proven track record of optimizing clinical & strategic imperatives to measurably improve patient health outcomes which lead to competitive advantage and higher clinical quality ratings
+ Possesses ability to communicate both highly technical clinical subject matter as well as cross-functional strategic business objectives
+ Demonstrates the ability to develop and present, with tact, diplomacy and confidence, executive-level reports and succinct but informative board and executive level presentations that enable critical decision-making regarding care model design
+ Exhibits high emotional intelligence, prefers to work in a collaborative team-based environment across internal departments and possesses the ability to build rapport and credibility with business leaders.
