Requirements

  • A four year accredited Bachelor's of Science degree required or equivalent experience, while a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering or Business preferred.
  • A previous record of accomplishment of sales within a rotating equipment portfolio - pumps, mechanical seals, turbo machinery - is desirable, but not required.
  • The incumbent should be practical, innovative and self motivated, with the ability to work largely unsupervised.
  • A self-starter, with a mechanically inclined disposition and an outgoing personality.
  • Must possess excellent communication and human relation skills.
  • Will require working knowledge of computer systems and programs/software.


Job Description

Phase 1, while working under Service Shop Management:

  • Gain working knowledge and functionality with Elliott ERP systems and Notes databases.
  • Gain general understanding of Elliott product line through Elliott product training, self-learning from Elliott Technical Service Manual,
  • Gain general understanding of repair techniques, materials and standard repair manuals.
  • Gain general understanding of different repair methodology that includes inspection, non-destructive technology (NDT) inspection, weld, heat treating, etc.
  • Learn to obtain required data to properly prepare YR, compressor, turbine, expander, and non-Elliott equipment Repair quotations, including the required scope, cost, pricing, lead-times, available resources, etc.
  • Gains understanding of how job order is implemented properly that includes placing correct parts orders, writing accurate and detailed work scopes, and making sure all other required resources are available throughout job order duration.


Phase 2 -while working under Field Service Regional Management:

  • Gains full understanding of fieldwork quoting process that includes the Field Service structure and types of field service opportunities,
  • CRM Field Service Opportunity Entry, pricing, scope of work (shop versus field), schedule, manpower, and competition. Attends safety training for on-site work.
  • Gains understanding or required documentation (OSHA logs, EMR, etc.)
  • Learns who Elliott's preferred subcontractors are, which subcontractors are on-site service subcontractors and the pricing associated with these services. Gains exposure to field services by being present for one compressor and turbine outage, a turbine/compressor Disassembly and assembly, insulation removal, oil flushing process and measuring clearances. Gains a basic understanding of commercial terms and conditions structure, performance and bid bonds, Insurance requirements, limits of liability, Elliott warranty, and indemnification.


Phase 3 -while working under Service Parts Management: Gains understanding of Elliott Service Parts process management, ERP systems, practices and policies.

  • Gains understanding of the daily business environment in Jeannette, including interaction with our internal and External customers, generating price quotes and deliveries, and conducting shop order folder research for proper parts identification.
  • Gains understanding of how Elliott traces parts through drawings.
  • Learns how to gain support through staff engineers.
  • Gains exposure to and works to understand any modification or re-rate request that would be channelled through our Engineering Solutions department.
  • Job Execution Portion of work in parallel to on job training: for Compressor, Turbines and Custom Pumps Obtain assigned bookings on aftermarket products and services to ensure budgeted sales revenue.
  • Develop existing customers, pursuing both traditional and non-traditional products. Identify and contact new customers to further expand sales base and revenue potential.
  • Manage time and expenses to ensure coverage of key revenue sources while pursuing new target Areas. Prepare and submit proposals.


  • Negotiate commercial terms of sale.
  • As principal customer interface, advise management of changing customer market requirements.
  • Complete monthly market opportunity forecast.
  • Recommend actions to counter or take advantage of a competitor's position, i.e. price, lead time, or Product differentiation related needs. Submit annual analysis of sales territory.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by sales or marketing management. Acquire skills and experience in various repair procedures and techniques to maintain appropriate Level of expertise and facilitate continued sales.
  • Act as customer advocate in matters involving communication of requirements and execution of Responsibilities. Example include: Monitor schedule of key orders to insure on-time completion. Provide feedback loop to Sodegaura / Jeannette and/or shop(s) on any quality related problem
